Largest Container Ship Arrives
The NZ Shippers Council acknowledge the arrival of the largest container ship to have ever visited New Zealand.
Aotea Maersk arrive in Tauranga this week as part of the Maersk Lines’ service between South America and North East Asia. The vessel has the nominal capacity to carry almost twice as much cargo as any other container ship that has previously visited New Zealand.
“The Council is supportive of initiatives which improve sustainability across NZ shipping services, and we look forward to any potential expanded economic opportunities this new service may offer” said Mike Knowles, Chair of NZSC.
